USIMP wasestablished in 2007 with five founding members to raise awareness of university–industry collaboration (UIC) activities in Türkiye and to save the tacit knowledge produced by institutions and organizations working in this field, thereby creating synergy and unity of strength.
Today, USIMP is a national Network with 140+ institutional members, performing with a strong sense of social responsibility and unique structure and contributing to the maturation of the national R&D and Innovation ecosystem.
USIMP’s strength lies in its members, spread country-wide and who are expert in their fields and dedicated to this mission. Most activities are carried out through the financial and in-kind contributions of USIMP members, with the spirit of collective and voluntary work.
USIMP has diversified and expanded its services in line with changing needs and has made significant contributions as an NGO to the development of a national Technology Transfer Office Model adaptable and applicable to local needs specific to Türkiye, exploiting its international collaborations.
BACKGROUND
USIMP was established by TÜBİTAK University–Industry Joint Research Centers (ÜSAM) Program beneficiaries (1997-2007) following the termination of the Funding, under the leadership of Adana University–Industry Joint Research Center (Adana ÜSAM), with the full support of Biomedical Technologies Center Association (BİYOMEDTEK), OSTİM Middle East Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Technologies R&D Center (ODAGEM), ITU Automotive Research Center (OTAM), Ceramic Research Center (SAM), and the Turkish Textile Foundation (TTV).
Since establishment, USIMP has triggered a movement bringing together, academic, public and private sector groups and has evolved into an expanding umbrella organization. Today , it has140+ institutional members acting as interface organizations from various sectors and with different legal identities; representatives from universities, industry, and non-governmental organizations.
Its unique structure as a civil initiative, allows USIMP respond rapidly to changing conditions and requirements. As a national platform, it has demonstrated an evolution parallel to the development of the national R&D and Innovation Ecosystem by anticipating needs and prioritizing its activities accordingly.
